Vaal Dam sinks below 40% as Western Cape dam levels increase

on

The Vaal Dam is currently at a low record, which is less than 40%. This is as a result of low rainfall, high temperatures, and increased water usage.

This is not the same for Western Cape, because the dam levels have increased to a great amount over the past week.

To say the fact, the fullest dam in Western Cape is Theewaterskloof Dam, which has survived six years now.

Government have said there should be low consumption of water in Gauteng and has urged residents not to panic.

We’re hoping that snow in Western and Eastern Cape will also go into Lesotho because that will have an impact on Lesotho Highlands water project,” said Sputnik Ratau of the Department of Water and Sanitation.

Ratau is hoping this summer will make Vaal region see a heavy downpour of rain and lower temperatures, like Western Cape.
