South African music artists are expanding their reach to the international level, and many are being intentional about it this year.
The year kicked off with the huge effect of COVID-19 outbreak on the entertainment industry, yet some artists were able to secure mind blowing deals.
These deals secured, especially at the international level was highly celebrated in SA.
Below are 5 SA music artists signed to international record labels in 2020:
In March, it was announced that the rapper signed to Def Jam Recordings, through a joint venture with Universal Music Africa. His “Zulu Man With Some Power” album is his first project under the label and the marketing of the label has been evident since he joined them. Nasty C has lots of international label also.
The BET award winner excitedly announced in July that she’s signed to Epic Records.
Moonchild got signed to Transgressive Records in June and dropped her first single under the label that day, Bashiri.
The rapper shook fans with the announcement of being signed to an American music and entertainment company named, The Orchard. His upcoming album, Msotra Don’t Die is believed to be his debut project from the new label.
The actress is signed to world’s biggest talent agencies, Creative Artists Agency (CAA). The company handles publicity for the likes of Beyonce.
The RnB singer has beemn topping charts with her songs, and the latest from her was joining Columbia Records family, The record has other iconic stars such as, Beyonce, John Legend, Adele and a few others.
