The provincial government launched a 113-bed facility on Saturday, at the Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein, as preparedness levels develop.
The Free State Health Department gets prepared for increased COVID-19 infections in coming days and has decided provide more beds to various health facilities in the province.
As it stands, Free State now has 3,461 COVID-19 positive cases and 567 deaths.
Mondli Mvambi, from the Health Department said:
“We’re anticipating that there might just be more cases so we need to be ready.”
Apparently, the Free State is now providing more beds and expanding its bed capacity. As the country is now in Level 2 lockdown, the provincial government has made it known that an increase in coronavirus infection cases might surface.
The department mentioned that there would be provision of beds distributed across to a number of facilities, with inclusion to the Bongani Hospital in Welkom.
