Moments after Durban’s historic Grey Street Mosque caught fire, emergency service responded and rushed to the scene to quench the inferno
The historic Grey Street Mosque located in the Durban CBD, having a capacity of up to 7,000 worshipers and built in the 1930s has been caught up in fire.
The historic mosque is one of the oldest and largest mosques found in the southern hemisphere.
The cause of the fire is still yet unknown but ongoing investigation.

Robert McKenzie, KwaZulu-Natal EMS spokesperson said:
“Paramedics are also on stand-by at the scene, however at this stage no casualties have been reported. The exact cause of the fire is not known at this stage and is going to be investigated by the police.”
“There is a fire at the Mosque in Grey st, Durban CBD. The fire department is on scene. We also have several ambulances at the scene but no report of casualties as yet. Cause of fire unknown,” Robert McKenzie, KZN EMS Spokesperson. @NkoRaphael
