Eight prisoners awaiting trial took to their heels during the weekend. These prisoners are wanted for different crimes which include murder & rape
It is unknown how these prisoners managed to escape from police holding cells in Mount Ayliff.
However, an investigation is ongoing to know how they (8 prisoners) escaped.

On that fateful, as described by Eastern Cape police – they said officers on duty heard a loud knock from the holding cells and went to know what’s going on.
On getting there, a prisoner told them that some prisoners had broke free.
Tembinkosi Kinana from the police has beckoned on the public to let them know if there is a valid information.
He also warned that these suspects are very dangerous and should not be approached if they are found.
“We would like to warn them not to try and arrest the suspects as we consider them to be very dangerous.”
