A vehicle tracking app assisted Metro Police reclaim hijacked vehicle in Khayelitsha.
On Wednesday morning, the victim summoned officers in Duinefontein Road after he got ambushed by hijackers who took off with his light delivery vehicle.
However, with the assistance of the tracking app on the victim’s cellphone, officers were able to trail the hijacked vehicle and block the suspects in Khayelitsha.
Ruth Solomons from City of Cape Town mentioned that Metro Police officers were able to just arrest one of the five hijackers.
“Four others ran off but were rounded up by SAPS just minutes later. The quintet, ranging in age between 28 and 36, were arrested for hijacking and detained at Manenberg Police Station.”
