Helen Zille, who is the DA’s Federal Council Chairperson said anyone who think former leader Mmusi Maimane as a victim of racism “is themselves a racist.”
“Anybody who claims he is some kind of a victim is actually racist because they are denying him the agency to make a choice,” she said.
Zille stated that the reality doesn’t lie in the purging of black leaders and progressive members in the party.
Last weekend, the DA ended its virtual policy conference and contributed on the race issue.
The DA boasted that its policies are not judged by race and are ready to bear the electoral consequences if need be.
“I don’t know if this one policy is a vote-winning policy, I don’t think South Africans even vote that way,” said the party’s Head of Policy, Gwen Ngwenya.
“I don’t think many have their primary reason as policies, I would love it if that were the case but I think policies are a part of it, and I certainly don’t think one policy will determine how people vote.”
Zille said if such policies are adopted, then it could drill a hole in the State economy.
