A suspect who was allegedly involved in a cash-in-transit robbery which took place in Rustenburg in July 2019 is now behind bars.
Hawks team arrested the wanted suspect during an operation in Hillbrow.
The 31-year-old CIT suspect was caught during the multi-pronged operation by various law enforcement agencies on Friday.
Hawks North West spokesperson Capt Tlangelani Rikhotso said during the heist in 2019 “the heavily armed suspects allegedly used two vehicles to force an armoured vehicle to a halt at the intersections of Fatima Bayat and Bosch streets in Rustenburg.”
“They then used explosives to blow open the safes of the armoured vehicle and made off with an undisclosed amount of money,” Captain Tlangelani Rikhotso said in a statement on Saturday.
The man is expected to appear at the Rustenburg Magistrates Court on Monday.
