COVID-19 in SA: 85 more deaths recorded with 2,055 new infections

In the past 24 hours, the health department has recorded an increase in COVID-19 related death, which has increased by 85.

A larger percentage of the fatalities come from Gauteng, which recorded 62 new deaths.


KwaZulu-Natal recorded 9, Western Cape recorded 7, Eastern Cape recorded 5, and Northern Cape recorded 2 new deaths.

However, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 related deaths in the country is now at 15,857.

In the past 24 hours, 2,055 new cases have been recorded, which amount to 657,627 total number of confirmed coronavirus cases.

The recovery rate now stands at 89.2% which translates that 586,844 patients have recovered from coronavirus so far.

In the whole country, more than four million tests have been conducted.
