COVID-19 in SA: Death toll hits over 16,000

One hundred and twenty-six more patients have succumbed to coronavirus, which takes the death toll to 16,118 in South Africa

In the past 24 hours, the Department of Health recorded 1,346 infections. This takes the total number of known cases in the country to over 663,000, since the breakout of the virus earlier this year.

One hundred and twenty-six more patients have succumbed to coronavirus, which takes the death toll to 16,118 in South Africa.


A larger percentage of the recorded deaths goes to KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.

The recovery rate now stands at 89.4%, which means that about 593,000 people have recovered so far.
