Landlords issue more eviction notices

on

Evictions can keep on but the courts are monitoring the landlord’s behaviour according to a lending provider.

Paragon Lending Solutions dropped comments on the rights of both landlords and tenants.

Since the country got into lockdown Level 1, several people are getting eviction notices.

Gary Palmer from Paragon Lending Solutions said:

Landlords have come to the party in terms of rent holidays but now, landlords are also running their own business so tenants need to start paying.”

“2.2 million jobs have been lost in the second quarter of this year so there’s sure to be some tenants that can’t pay so it’s going to be a bit of a bumpy road ahead.”

The courts are starting to allow for the eviction process to start, in terms of sending out letters of demand etc,” he said.

According to Palmer’s analysis, it is not all bad news for tenants.

But I think what the courts are looking now, in terms of eviction notices, is at is the behavior of the landlord to their tenants because some landlords are going to take advantage of the situation and say, “I didn’t want my tenant there in the first place and use this COVID process to evict the tenant” and the courts are going to look out for that,” Palmer explained.
