The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) said it would send invitations to mobile operators to apply to bid for spectrum for 4G and next-generation 5G networks, starting from Friday, with the country’s first-ever auctions expected to happen soon.


The allocation of frequency bands for wireless communication is witnessed to be a vital part in expansion of broadband services, especially 5G in Africa’s most industralised economy, where doing business must require a high cost of telecommunications.
