The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) disclosed on Friday that one of the of the seven suspects in connection to the Free State asbestos projects case could get more charges.
The seven suspects are expected to appear in court in Bloemfontein on Friday.
Members of the African National Congress (ANC) gathered outside to support ousted Mangaung mayor, Olly Mlamleli.
The supporters argued that the case against Olly is being politically motivated and she is innocent.
They are calling on the security bodies to ensure more senior ANC members get charged on this matter.
However, members of the People’s Movement against Olly were seen with placards which read: “Olly and the gang must wear orange overalls”.
The NPA’s Sipho Ngwema indicated that one of the suspects has another implicating charge added to the existing one.
“It is alleged that one of the suspects went into the cells with money and started buying cellphones and there are a number of things that law enforcement agencies are investigating related to bribery and we might have to press further charges against one of the accused appearing here today.”
