Health Minister – Zweli Mkhize has sounded a note of warning that a could be a possible surge of COVID-19 infections in the country.
But he said health officials are capable of handling the situation this time.
The Department of Health has recorded 1,027 new COVID-19 cases.
Eighty-seven more people have succumbed to the coronavirus, which takes the total number of fatalities in the country to 17,103.
Moreover, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases now stands at 683,242.
The recovery rate is now at 90 percent, which translates that about 616,857 people have recovered so far.
However, Mkhize has sounded a note warning to South Africans to maintain precautionary measures against the virus.
