The Democratic Alliance (DA) made it known that it will open a criminal case against the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema and a member of Parliament, Nazier Paulsen.
This is prompted by an intimidating social media post published by the duo.
Last week, Malema tweeted the words “Magwala a chechele morago!” Which translates to “cowards move to the back, fighters attack”.
He also tweeted a picture of a machine gun over the weekend
This week, Paulsen tweeted an image of a machine gun tagged with the caption “get ready”.
These social media posts came in response to a protest by angry farmers in the Free State town of Senekal.
According to the DA chief whip, Natasha Mazzone, the MPs actions on social media incite violence.
“These inflammatory actions are a serious offence, especially by a member of Parliament who is bound by their oath of office.”
“In what constitutional democracy anywhere in the world would and elected public official be allowed to openly and publicly incite racial warfare.”
Mazzone said the party will open a case against the two at the Cape Town police station on Monday.
