On Thursday, a police officer will be expected to come before the Boksburg magistrate’s court, after he allegedly assaulted a Pick n Pay manager in Reiger Park, Ekurhuleni, earlier this week.
.Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) spokesperson Ndileka Cola said on Thursday that the directorate was probing into the incident.
“Ipid is investigating the incident which occurred at Reiger Park. It is alleged that the police [officer] assaulted the Pick n Pay manager,” she said.
“The police officer/suspect has since been arrested and will be making his first appearance this morning at Boksburg court for assault.”
“The Ipid investigation continues.”
The scene was recorded on closed-circuit television (CCTV) opposite the shop premises. However, the reason for the assault by the court still remain unknown.
The CCTV footage displays the manager trekking opposite the premises with a phone to his ear until a SAPS member approached him from no where and landed the manager a sounding slap on his face, before trying to choke the manager’s neck with his arms.
