As court hears the case of the Brandin Horner murder accused in the Senekal magistrates court on Friday, the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) appealed for peace in the Free State town of Senekal.
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and African National Congress (ANC) members were seen protesting alongside people from lobby group AfriForum and local farmers.
Ever since the murder of local farm manager Brendin Horner earlier this month sensitive racial tensions rose to a high level in Senekal
This tension was sparked after the badly tortured body of the 21-year-old was found hanging from a pole in Paul Roux where he worked.
The first appearance of the two suspects arrested in connection to the man’s murder sparked chaos outside the court.
Tighter security is present outside the court as the duo appear today in order to prevent chaotic scenes from occurring.
The SAHRC called on all groups in Senekal to engage in peaceful protest.
EFF members could be heard singing “Dubula” which means “shoot” earlier on Friday.
