Bail hearing of suspect connected to Normandien couple’s murder to be heard next week

The case tendered against a man with charges related with the murder of a farming couple in Normandien, close to Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal was adjourned to next Monday for a bail hearing.

Vikani Ngwenya, who is around his 20s is faced with two counts of murder.

On Monday, police in KwaZulu-Natal also apprehended five suspects, after the death of the couple.

A vehicle which was suspected to have been used to carry out the crime was also taken hold of.

While Ngwenya is faced with murder charges, police spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker mentioned that some of the suspects had been set free.

Three of the man were released while another remains in custody pending further investigations,” Naicker said.

Police Minister Bheki Cele requested for patience and calmness in Normandien, saying that the police have kept a good record in solving farm murders.
