Fake products worth millions of rand have been uncovered in Johannesburg.
This bust was carried out by the South African Revenue Service customs department and law enforcement agencies.
The team uncovered counterfeit and illegal goods worth nearly R20-million worth in the Johannesburg CBD.
The law enforcement officers raided an abandoned building and found various counterfeit medication, illegal skin care products and other items in it.
According to SA Health Products Regulatory Authority spokesperson, Mlungisi Wondo, the products are neither licensed nor registered by SAHPRA.
“The products may be substandard or even counterfeit or contain a substance that is dangerous for humans.”
However, authorities stated that they know who is behind this fake products.
Despite knowing this, no arrest have been made on the matter yet.
