On Wednesday, two cash-in-transit robbers who have been off the grid for four years were sentenced by the Polokwane High Court, with a cumulative jail term of 285 years.

In 2018, Boitumelo Aphane and Solly Monama were handcuffed, for crimes related to committing a series of cash-in-transit robberies in several areas, like Polokwane.

Both criminals were convicted for having unlawful firearms in their possession, unlawful explosives in their possession, and robbery under aggravating circumstances.

Hawks head Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya rained praises on the investigation and prosecution team for excellent work.

These sentences will serve as a deterrence to other potential criminals who must know that the law will catch up with them. The community will be safer from the two who shall be receiving corrective lessons in Correctional Services facility,” Lebeya said.
