In the past 24 hours, the Health Department has recorded 891 new COVID-19 cases, which takes the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 716,759.
According to the Health Minister – Dr. Zweli Mkhize, he said there have also been 40 deaths related to COVID-19 since the data was released on Sunday evening. Of these, 10 deaths happened in the past 24-48 hours. The other 30 were historical deaths which were confirmed since Sunday.
“Our recoveries now stand at 646,721 which translates to a recovery rate of 90%,” said Mkhize.
The data is based on a total of 4,709,403 tests, of which 11,464 were performed in the last 24-hour cycle.
