Fans criticise Khune for Chiefs’ heavy loss to Sundowns

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper – Itumeleng Khune received blasts and criticism from the club’s fans after Amakhosi’s 3-0 loss to rivals – Mamelodi Sundowns this past weekend

Goalkeeper Bafana Bafana made a costly mistake, allowing Peter Shalulile to put Sundowns ahead in the 37th minute. While defending a corner kick, Khune went off the line to kick the ball but missed it completely, allowing Shalulile to go home for Sundowns opener.

Things went from bad to worse for Khune and Chiefs who conceded a second goal with just eight minutes to go. Khune attempted to deflect Themba Zwane’s shot, but the rebound landed on Kermit Erasmus’s path, who was right at close range.

As if that weren’t enough, Khune suffered a penalty in the closing minutes of the match when he fouled former Chiefs teammate George Maluleka. Zwane converted the penalty.

After the match, some Chiefs fans took to social media to criticize Khune.
