Five people are expected to appear at a Johannesburg court on Tuesday morning in connection to the murder of Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa.

On Monday, the police disclosed that they had finally made a breakthrough six years after the soccer player was shot dead in Vosloorus.

They said they have a strong case against the five suspects.

According to the National Police Commissioner, Khehla Sitole, forensic and ballistic evidence revealed that the person who pulled the trigger is connected to the murder.

When his family got frustrated after no arrest was made, they turned to AfriForum’s private prosecution unit to probe the murder.

The unit insists that Meyiwa’s murder was not a robbery gone wrong but a hit.

AfriForum’s Advocate Gerrie Nel is dure that the the person who pulled the trigger and killed Meyiwa will be among the five suspects due in the dock in Boksburg on Tuesday morning.

“When they appear today in court, lots of people will understand it more, lots of people will agree with us that we are dealing with a hit and hope that more people will put pressure on the South African Police Service and National Prosecuting Authority to address the mastermind.”
