President Cyril Ramaphosa has slammed rumours claiming that SA will move to lockdown level three.

On Tuesday, he clarified that SA is not moving to level 3 while responding to National Council of Provinces (NCOP) questions on covid-19 and government’s fight against corruption.

In response to a question about lockdown rumours going viral, Ramaphosa indicated that he was more bothered about the behaviour the public exhibits.

He warned that South Africans should stop being exaggerating lockdown regulations.

“What we now need to do in light of what we are going through, I don’t want to be alarmist and I don’t want our people to be alarmed with the rumours such we are going to level three, that is simply not true and I want to assure everyone that that is not true.”

Ramaphosa stated that when the need arises, an announcement on regulations would be made known.

“If it ever gets there, I will be the one to advise the nation where we are and where we are going to, so now all we need to do is adhere to our preventative measures and wear your masks.”
