As SA anticipates to hear the Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement on Wednesday, the Western Cape Finance and Economic Opportunities MEC David Maynier disclosed that his department will be paying close attention to the presentation.
The Finance Minister Tito Mboweni, is expected to present the Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement on Wednesday.
He is also expected to make important announcements which would impact on the provincial budget in the Western Cape.
Maynier disclosed that he is hoping for positive news in the form of financial commitment to boost investment in infrastructure and upscale public employment programmes that would promote economic growth, create jobs and provide immediate relief to struggling families.
He also highlighted his fear:
“However, our biggest fear is that provincial budgets will be cut to bail out failing state-owned enterprises, like SAA, which in the end will compromise critical front-line service delivery, especially in education and health in the Western Cape.”
