Combating unnecessary weight gain and cutting down on stubborn fats is definitely a task. But if you have a loving partner then it sure makes things a bit more easier and less challenging.

That said, if your partner is struggling to get rid of the excess fat around the waist and battling the bulge, then it is crucial that you support them at every step of the way.

From encouraging them to go that extra mile to actively participating in their weight loss routines, you can do much more than just be a silent spectator. Here’s everything you can do to facilitate your partner’s weight loss goals.

1. Understand and learn about their weight loss programme

If in fact your partner is determined to lose some inches, you must first learn everything about their weight loss programme. Whether they’re on a restrictive diet and/or an intense fitness routine, you must have a prior understanding of what will benefit them in the process and what you can do to contribute to their goals.

2. Be an active participant

Once you get a deeper understanding of your partner’s weight loss goals, try and be an active participant in the process too. By indulging in the same healthy diet or working out together, you can surely rev up their spirit and make them more motivated.

3. Encourage but don’t be a know-it-all

Sometimes, in a bid to motivate your partner, you may step on their nerves and disrupt their routine. That said, while you must encourage them and be a supportive cheerleader, you must not become a coach and act as though you know everything about losing weight. This will only undermine their confidence and may make them insecure.

4. Plan dates with healthy foods and drinks

Going on a date and having a romantic evening with your partners is a must. But if your partner is on a weight loss regime, then plan something that doesn’t involve unhealthy snacking or drinking. While a cheat meal together is occasionally acceptable, you must not make it regular.

5. When they struggle, do not judge or criticize

A weight loss programme can be difficult and challenging. On some day it may feel rejuvenating, on other days it can take a heavy toll on one’s physical and mental health. That said, during such times, instead of making them feel less of themselves and criticizing them, motivate them even more and tell them how it’s okay to cut themselves some slack.

6. Make it more about their health than their body

One of the most important things to remember is that your partner may be all driven and enthusiastic about losing weight, but you must make it a point to let them know that their health is more important than how their body looks in the end. This will not only make them feel better but also make them motivated towards adhering to a healthy lifestyle.

7. Be extremely supportive and positive

Throughout the course of their weight loss regime, there may be many ups and downs. They may feel low and exhausted from time to time. However, as a partner you can help them restore a positive outlook and continue to do what they’re doing. Support them and let them see the bigger picture.
