Are you wondering why your natural hair is not growing? Isn’t it frustrating, after all the work you have put in to take care of your Frolicious natural hair?

Let me tell you something, your hair is growing but you are not retaining length.

Before you worry too much, in today’s post I would like to share some information on reasons why your natural hair is not growing.

Here’s a list of them below:

1. Hair care routine mistakes

Do you remember the time when your natural hair was growing long and healthy? When this happened to me I started to skip some steps like not moisturising my hair properly. This caused my hair not to grow. It is important to find a proper hair care routine that works for you and to stick to it! Especially if your hair was doing great.

2. Heat damage

Heat like blow dryers can seriously damage your hair. Using heat on a regular base is a major cause of dry hair. Furthermore, you can lose your natural curl pattern. In addition to this, it can cause your natural hair to break off. Stop using heat and let your Frolicious curls dry naturally. If you need to use heat make sure to apply a heat protectant before using heat on your natural hair.

3. Split ends – Not trimming hair

Your hair grows from the root so the tips are the oldest part of your hair. Healthy hair ends are important to avoid hair splitting. Your hair shaft splits due to dry hair. Once you get split ends, you can’t repair them. The only solution is to trim your hair. Not trimming natural hair will make it dry and thin. If your hair is prone to split ends, make sure to moisturize the ends of your hair.

4. Too much manipulation or stress

How often do you change your look? Because too much manipulation can cause hair loss. How busy are you? If you have got so much to do that you can’t even shut your mind down when you are laying in bed, you are too busy. Stress affects your health which can show up on your hair for e.g. hair loss. Relax yourself and do activities like walking or yoga.

5. Your hair heeds moisture

Do you know your hair type. Do you have low porosity or high porosity hair? There are different methods as well as different products for each hair type. You want to make sure that the moisture you have added is sealed in. Another great way to moisture your natural curls is the LOC or LCO method. Using these methods will help you to moisture your strands.

6. Washing hair everyday

Clean scalp and hair are super important. However, if you wash your hair everyday it will strip your hair from oils. If you need to wash your hair everyday try to use only water.

7. Not taking any vitamins

You are what you eat. Vitamins along with a good diet will help your hair to grow long and healthy. Feed your follicles!

8. Not drinking enough water

To grow your hair long and healthy you should drink around 2 liters of water per day. You will notice visible differences within few weeks if you stay hydrated.

9. Wrong products

Using harsh chemical products can make your natural hair rough and prone to breakage. Do your research, read labels to look for the ingredients and invest in quality products.
