Barbadian singer, Rihanna finally reaches billionaire status, making her world richest female musician at age 33.
The money magazine revealed on Wednesday, 4th of August, that, by its calculations, the business-woman is now worth $1.7 billion (£1.2 bn).
The singer didn’t attain the billionaire level through proceeds from her music career, but Forbes estimates that a vast majority of her earnings ($1.4 billion) comes from her 50% ownership stake of make-up, hair and skincare line, Fenty Beauty and attributes a large part of the brand’s success to its core value of inclusivity. The other half of Fenty Beauty is owned by the luxury consumer group LVMH, which is run by the second richest person in the world, Bernard Arnault.
American host, Oprah Winfrey is famously known to be the wealthiest entertainer, positioning Rihanna just behind Oprah.
South African rapper, Cassper Nyovest who aspires to become a billionaire stumbled on the news and couldn’t keep his chill.
“Motho waka ke billionaire. Obviously this is a sign of things to come for mem,” he said.
