How many times has it occurred that you eat your favourite dish after a long time and happen to overeat in the end?

If you have faced this situation multiple times, don’t worry, we all are in the same boat. Overeating or having a very heavy meal might make you feel uneasy and bloated right after finishing the food.

In such a situation, it is better to follow the below-given steps to feel at ease instantly. So, the next time you overeat by mistake, keep these practical tips handy to detoxify yourself.

1. Light walking

Be it breakfast, lunch or dinner, light-paced walking is recommended after each meal. Usually, dieticians recommend 10 minutes of light walking after a meal. If you have consumed a meal or overeaten, just walk around for a while. This will push the food further and will also quicken the process of digestion. You can lightly stroll either indoors or out in the open to ease out your uneasiness. Remember that post-meal walks should be light. Never walk fast or do jogging after having food, as it can cause nausea and stomach ache.

2. Detox water

Detox water can help in digestion and flushing out excess sodium consumed. You can make detox water in a number of ways, depending on your taste and choice. The most basic one is lemon water. Just take a cup of warm water, add a few drops of lemon water to it along with a pinch of black pepper. Don’t add honey or salt to it. Also, don’t gulp down water in one go, instead sit down and slowly sip it for better effect. You can also have jeera tea, fennel tea and even lemongrass tea after a meal to quicken the digestion process.

3. Do not lie down

Never lie down right after having a heavy meal. Even if you feel uneasy, just keep walking at a light pace. Lying down after a meal can cause regurgitation or acid reflux. This can irritate the lining of your food pipe and might even make you feel nauseous.

Bottomline

In case you have overeaten don’t beat yourself down for it and just follow the above-given tips. There is no point in feeling guilty about it. Many people feel guilty after overeating and some even try to vomit it out, especially those who are super conscious about their weight. This might be one of the early signs of Anorexia that might require medical intervention.
