7 alkaline foods to include in daily diet



Alkaline foods give relief from acidity and help balance acid levels in the body. These foods help to cool the stomach.

The gastric acid released by our stomach during digestion is slightly higher, thus a diet rich in alkaline helps in relaxing the digestive tracts.

Here’s a list of food items that are appropriate to include in an alkaline diet.

1. ​Tofu

Milk and other dairy products have an acidic effect on the digestive system. Tofu is made out of soya milk and is thus alkaline in nature. Paneer should be avoided and use tofu instead to prevent acid reflux.

2. Sweet potato

Sweet potato is a rich source of alkaline. Sweet potatoes are mildly acidic and highly alkaline in nature. The alkaline nature of sweet potatoes aids in fighting inflammation. This helps in curing chronic inflammation, thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties.

3. ​Sea salt

Sea salt is rich in minerals like iron, potassium, iodine and magnesium. The alkalizing properties of sea salt help in fighting bacterial infections and viral diseases. Sprinkling it over salads and using sea salt during cooking instead of table salt help in building immunity.

The fibrous content of brown rice is helpful for calming down heartburn. Brown rice is way less acidic than white rice and thus provides relief from acidity. Apart from its alkaline nature, brown rice is healthier in itself, and switching from white rice isn’t a bad idea at all.
