Elaine, regarded as the most streamed South African singer a year ago, seems to have fallen in the eyes of some South Africans.
The RnB star trended through the weekend after a video of her and Focalistic surfaced on social media.
In the video, the two were dancing to the Amapiano song they jointly created, which is believed to be the first for the You’re The One hitmaker.
She’s been urged to stay off Amapiano.
“This is what no one tells you about singing to a label. This isn’t Elaine’s decision. The label probably thought: “you need a hit. You’re African. The sound is African. Do it now” You really think, for example, Doja Cat wants to make Disco? C’mon,” a tweep wrote.

Keep Elaine away from Amapiano. Let’s start a petition. https://t.co/V0VyWizruj

I wish Elaine stuck with the same producers who worked on Elements, Slip away & I just wanna know or at least didn’t experiment as quickly as she did with her music.

Nah America did, but social media did, you guys cant adapt to anything different. You want artist to stay the same. Black Coffee was right, South African are not good consumers of music. ELAINE’S BRAND IS FINE. https://t.co/O1at39FDRt

This Elaine downfall is painful to watch because I genuinely thought she’d be an international star

If y’all would actually listened to Elaine’s new music instead of foreseeing her downfall, maybe you’d notice that her sound is still good, even her lyrics 😭❤ pic.twitter.com/7yamQGurJi
