6 simple and easy ways to thicken soups

1. Add cream or yogurt

If your tomato or spinach soup looks thin, then simply add a few tablespoons of cream or yoghurt and bring it to a boil. While boiling, make sure to keep stirring to avoid it from sticking to the pan.

2. ​Add flour or corn flour

You can also add flour or cornstarch to thicken a soup. All you need to do is, add a tablespoon of flour to the soup and bring it to a simmer. Enjoy!

You can also make a paste of melted butter and flour to thicken the soup. Add the paste to the soup and bring it to a boil. Serve!

4. Blend in bread

Add torn bread chunks to the soup, bring it to a boil and stir until it blends in well. Bring it to a boil again and serve hot.

5. Add lentils or rice

As per experts, you can also add in cooked and mashed or rice to the soup. Add in and cook until they blend in well with soup. Serve hot.

6. Blend all veggies

If you are making vegetable soup, blanch the vegetables well and then blend them into a paste along with some milk or cream and cook it along with broth to attain the desired consistency.
