Wooden cookware has become popular in the modern kitchen. While they have a subtle elegance to them, they also absorb dirt and oils, which can be difficult to remove.
As per experts, it is important to take extra care of wooden cookware as they have open pores that can absorb oil and food items and further develop bacteria-borne illnesses.
Here are some easy tips on how to clean wooden cookware at home.
1. Apply some salt
After washing the cookware with dish liquid, pour a good amount of coarse salt over it and rub it with a half-cut lemon until the salt has dissolved. Once done, rinse with cool water and allow it to dry.
2. Use lemon juice
All you have to do is soak the wooden cookware in a jug full of warm water and lemon juice. Soak the utensils for 15-20 minutes and rinse them off.
3. Sprinkle baking soda
Another easy way to clean wooden cookware is to sprinkle baking soda over the stained areas and drizzle on lemon juice. Next, use a clean cloth to scrub the area, and then simply rinse and set in the sun to dry. Later, rub some oil into the wooden cookware to improve its shine and longevity.
4. Allow to soak in vinegar
You can also soak the cookware in vinegar to get rid of unwanted stains and odors. Simply soak the wooden utensils in equal parts white vinegar and water overnight. And the next morning, wash them under running water and pat them dry using a kitchen towel.
5. Use sandpaper
Sandpaper can also be used to clean wooden cookware. According to experts, sanding removes the top layer filled with stains and bacteria and reveals fresh wood. It also gives a smooth finish to your wooden utensil.
6. Soak in warm water
You can also clean them by soaking them in a solution of warm water and dishwashing liquid. The warm water kills the bacteria, and dishwashing liquid removes odour and also cleans the marks of masalas and oil.
