Whether it is to reduce weight or to increase the beauty, the list of benefits of honey is very long.

While feeding children with honey on bread or drinking honey with hot water, you must not have noticed how long honey spoils.

If we talk about the history of honey, then you will be surprised to know that honey is thousands of years old and has been found in the remains of ancient civilizations and that too in good condition.

If you take a look at the honey’s expiry date on the bottle, you will be surprised to know that it never spoils, because there is no expiry of pure honey.

Why pure honey has no expiry date?

As per a research conducted by the University of California, the secret behind the longevity of honey is that pure honey has almost zero moisture due to which bacteria cannot grow or survive in it. This is probably the sole reason why honey does not get spoiled for a long time. The research also disclosed that if honey is getting spoiled, then it can be due to any kind of adulteration in it.

This is how honey is made

Based on this research, the lead scientist Amina Harris said that the pollen that bees choose to make honey contains 60 to 80 percent water, but while making honey, bees remove all the moisture and the remaining part remains in the form of honey. And the way honey is made, determines its longevity.

The medical uses

Researchers believe that this property of honey also makes it an excellent antiseptic because no life can flourish in honey. Significantly, in Egyptian civilization, it was used in the treatment of eye and skin related diseases and in Ayurveda, honey is used to make many effective medicine.
