It is said that if your motto is to stay fit then there is no dearth of options to work out.
While you might be making every effort to make your workout effective, deep down you would be aware that working out at home is no child’s play.
You have to be extra cautious of what you are doing, to avoid any kind of injury and reap benefits from your workout sessions.
Here are some common mistakes people make while exercising at home.
1. You skip your warm-up session
Warm-up is necessary for any kind of workout you perform. Whether you choose to do bodyweight exercises or skip a rope. Warm-up actually prepares your body to do an intense workout and flexes your muscles, thereby reducing the risk of injuries. So even if you are performing exercises at home, you need to warm-up, before diving into the main workout session.
2. You do not have any workout plan
Planning is equally important when exercising at home. When you go to the gym or any fitness class, you do not have to worry about all these things as they are taken care of by your fitness instructor. When you are working on your own, at home, you need to be specific about your needs. You cannot perform all kinds of exercises in a day. Set a target like a leg day or core day and stick to exercises targeting these muscle groups.
3. You are not paying attention to your form
In the gym, there are fitness trainers to correct your form. But when working from home, you have to be a little vigilant about it. Start slow and perform a few repetitions in the beginning. Learn about the correct form to do any exercise and common mistakes that one should avoid. This will help you reap maximum benefits from any kind of workout you are performing.
4. You are making your workout too complex
Always try to keep your workout as simple as possible. You may have varied interests like yoga or pilates or walking, but do not mix all together. Try one thing at a time. Some people even have a habit of trying every exercise they see on their Instagram or youtube feed. Do not fall for this. If you have just jumped into the world of fitness and have limited knowledge about different kinds of workout, it is best to stick to basics.
5. You are doing only cardio
Cardio exercises seem fun. Your heart rate increases, you feel the adrenaline rush and you burn some serious amount of calories. But it is important to understand that cardio is not the only kind of exercise. You need to think beyond that and include strength training as well in routine.
