Lira’s first interview after suffering stroke over a year

Lira finally does her first official interview months after suffering a stroke.

In 2022, the South African star was brought back home from Germany after being diagnosed with a stroke.


A few months ago, she gave fans an update about her health and her healing journey.

Lira finally did her first interview on The Upside of Failure on Radio 702 hosted by seasoned broadcaster Relebogile Mabotja.

The star said she couldn’t tell her story over the past year because she couldn’t talk.

The stroke affected her speech, but as seen in the interview video, she is healing well.

Speaking about how she felt upon realizing she had stroke, she said: “The sensation lasted about 15 minutes. It wasn’t painful. It was an uncomfortable feeling in my head. I walked into a restaurant, and I wanted to ask them where my hotel was…”

The Feel Good singer said she cried as she was still young to be diagnosed with such an illness.

“Wow. I was shocked. I’m too young to have a stroke. Not me. Not me. Not me. I cried. I cried because how was I going to tell my parents? I was alone.”

However, the illness as made the singer value life more and has made her priortise her health.

“It’s made me value life a bit more. When you have [a] stroke, it calms you from the stress of life. When I’m stressed, I can’t speak, so it is important for me to keep calm and peaceful.”
