Did you know that your belly size doesn’t always decide the size of your baby?
While the second time, the belly growth can be pretty fast because of the already stretched skin and muscles caused by the first pregnancy, there are many reasons that influence the bump size in first pregnancy.
There are innumerable reasons that can make your pregnant belly look bigger, such as
1. Height of the mother
This factor plays a big role in the size of your pregnant belly. For instance, if a mother is tall, the chances are that she will have a long abdomen, which allows more space for the baby to grow. This will allow the uterus to push upwards instead of pushing outwards. If a would-be-mother is short, the belly tends to push outwards as there’s little space between hip and lowest rib.
2. Position of the baby
Another reason for the bigger baby bump is the position of the baby in the abdomen. As babies change their position quite frequently, especially during the last trimester, they prefer a head-down position. And there are possibilities that they may move their back from one side to another. This may cause your belly to grow outwards.
3. Amniotic fluid
In case the amniotic fluid is in excess, it can impact the size of the baby bump. According to experts, the normal limit of amniotic fluid is 1 litre and if it goes beyond that limit, it may cause bigger pregnant belly. In some cases, this condition may also need medical attention.
4. Mother’s posture
If the posture of the pregnant woman is droopy while standing and sitting too, the chances are your muscles are relaxed which increases the possibility of a bigger pregnant bump.
5. The size of the baby
It is also possible that your baby’s size makes pregnant belly look bigger. Also, there are a few medical conditions like gestational diabetes, that can be responsible for the big size of the baby. Timely scans should be done to ensure proper growth of the baby.
6. Multiple pregnancies
Carrying more than one baby in the womb can make a bigger pregnant bump. This is because of the stretched muscles in the abdomen which make the baby bump look bigger.
