After all, it is not a nice feeling for any traveller to have that sense of fatigue and dizziness after spending an amazing holiday, especially when you are back home after a long haul flight.
1. Divide your journey: Instead of taking that non-stop long-haul flight to your desired destination, it is better if you split your journey into different flights. Yes, it will take you more time to reach your destination, but then it will give your body enough time to adjust to the changing conditions and routine.
2. Realign your body clock: This is more important than you realise. One of the major reasons why you get a jet lag is the difference in the local timing of your destination. Starting from three days before the day of your departure, start shifting your sleeping schedule by an hour or two; this will help you in adjusting to the new timings of the destination easily.
3. Never fall asleep when you reach: Yes, you will be tired and you will feel like nothing but crashing onto the bed for a sound sleep. But to avoid a jet lag, it is best advised that instead of falling asleep you head out for a walk in the neighbourhood or at least spend some time in the outdoors. This will help you acclimatise more easily and keep you away from the discomforts. Try and catch some sleep in the flight instead.
5. Opt for a workout: In case you reach your destination quite late at night that you can’t go out, head to the hotel’s gym and sweat out a bit. Well, workout after a long-haul flight might sound like a daunting task, but then it will help regulate the blood flow in your body and hence reduce the chances of getting a jet lag.
