Want to eat healthy? But don’t know how to cook quinoa for the first time?
There’s no denying that quinoa is one of the healthiest options, if you are trying to boost protein intake in the diet.
Here are some simple tips to cook quinoa properly to get that perfect taste and texture.
This simple plant based food can be made in just a few minutes by following some simple steps given below.
1. Rinse the quinoa
To begin with cooking quinoa, the first and foremost step is to wash and clean the quinoa.
2. Right ratio
The perfect ratio for cooking quinoa is 2 cups of water for every 1 cup of quinoa. This ratio ensures that the quinoa absorbs enough liquid to cook properly. You can adjust the quantity depending on the amount of quinoa you want to cook.
3. Simmer
Cook the quinoa by bringing the liquid to a boil, then reduce the heat to a low simmer. Cover the pot with a lid and let it cook for about 15 minutes. Keep an eye on it, and don’t lift the lid to check on it too often, as this can release steam and affect the cooking process.
Quinoa is done when it has absorbed all the liquid, and the individual grains have become translucent and have a small white ring around them. This usually takes about 15 minutes. You can check for doneness by tasting it.
5. Let it rest
After the quinoa is cooked, remove it from the heat, fluff it with a fork, and let it rest for about 5 minutes with the lid on. This resting time allows any remaining moisture to distribute evenly and gives the quinoa a nice taste and texture.
