They appear harmless. After all one small packet of chips or two small biscuits will not do much harm. But they are more dangerous than they appear.

Here are 10 food items that you should consume with caution if you want to stay healthy.

1. Potato Chips

Chips are calorie dense as they are cooked in fat. They are also loaded with sodium which ups blood pressure risk and causes water retention in the body. A regular 100 gm pack has 550-600 calories. Also, they are re fried in the same oil, making them unhealthy.

2. Packaged Juices

Sadly they have no real fruit, whatever the companies may claim. They are full of harmful sugar and have zero nutritional benefits. Please eat an orange instead of drinking a glass of packed orange juice. They also have preservatives that interfere with nutrition absorption in the body.

3. Aerated Drinks

They are bad and we all know that. Even the zero calorie ones are harmful as they, mostly have artificial sweeteners which have long term harmful impact on the body.

4. Biscuits

What will a small packet of biscuit do? Much! They are made with refined flour, are loaded with sugar and made with hydrogenated oil. Please avoid them as all they do is to pump empty calories in your body.

5. Noodles

Noodles are made of refined flour and they strain the digestive system which takes hours to break down these processed noodles. They interfere with the blood sugar levels and being present in the digestive system for long, release chemicals and preservatives that cause long term harm.

6. Namkeen

They are full of spices, preservatives, hydrogenated oil and sodium and hence pose a serious health threat if consumed unregulated and on a daily basis.

7. Packaged Soups

They use hydrolyzed vegetable protein, acidity regulator, flavour enhancer and colouring agents. The colouring agents are toxic and can put the liver and kidney under pressure to wash off harmful chemicals to keep the digestive system safe. Also, the hydrolyzed vegetables contain up to 30 per cent MSG, which may cause rapid heart rate and chest pain.

8. Ready-to-eat-meals

They use dehydrated vegetables which contain zero nutrients. Also the use of preservatives, additives or chemicals to make them consumable for a longer period may harm the human kidney and liver.

9. Muesli

Majority of packed muesli packets contain soy lecithin, a by-product of soybean oil. Research says that regular consumption of soy lecithin may lead to loss of appetite, occasional nausea, dizziness, vomiting and confusion.
