There’s no denying that kitchen appliances like blenders or food processors make life simple.

Right from making puree to juices to soups, this multipurpose appliance is perfect for someone who is always in a jiffy.

But you will be surprised to know that there are certain foods that are a miss fit for the blenders and should be avoided at all costs.

1. Hot food or Liquid

Blending extremely hot foods or liquids in a blender is a strict no! This is because the hot liquid or foods can create pressure buildup in the blender, which may lead to explosions. Thus, it is best to allow the hot food or liquids to cool down slightly before blending to avoid any mishap.

2. Fibrous vegetables with tough stalks

Vegetables with tough stalks or fibers, such as kale or broccoli stalks, may not blend smoothly and can leave a stringy texture. Remove tough parts or finely chop them before blending.

3. Dry ingredients in an empty blender

Adding dry ingredients like flour or powdered sugar into an empty blender can create a cloud of fine particles when the blender is turned on. Always add liquid or other ingredients before adding dry powders to prevent this.

4. Large bones

While blending soups make sure you avoid blending large meat bones as they can damage blender blades and motors. Remove them and then blend the soups.

5. Hard seeds or pits

Trying to grind pits or hard seeds or shells in a blender can damage blender blades or motors. Remove these seeds or pits before blending.

6. Carbonated beverages

Blending Carbonated drinks at high speed may foam up and create pressure inside the blender, which may lead to overflowing of the liquid and foam and may also explode when blending at high speed due to the pressure. It is best to avoid blending carbonated beverages.

7. Large ice cubes

While most blenders can crush ice, large ice cubes can strain the motor or damage the blades. Thus, it is better to use crushed ice or smaller ice cubes for blending.
