Nomzamo Mbatha honours Apple Music’s request for a curated playlist.
The playlist is to mark South Africa’s 30-Years of Freedom, and she’s taken to social media to give an insight about the songs on the playlist.
“Curated a playlist at the request of @applemusic in celebrating #30YearsOfFreedom. Which song on my playlist sticks out to you? Or did I miss?” she wrote.
My sentiments on the songs I chose:
* they’re deeply nostalgic. I think of a time when it would be a Saturday morning, my father making breakfast so the kitchen fills with the aroma of eggs and bacon and toast. Whilst the living room is fuming with Mr Min furniture spray. By the time both tasks are done there’s the freshest breeze meandering through the house. The purest joy and feeling of gratitude for family.
* They remind me of teenage years navigating adulthood! Whilst moving through a time in college where on Friday and Saturday nights we would be caught dancing on top of speakers. Or music that played during our study time…
To December summer days of GQOM hitting the speakers and moving an inexplicable feeling within.
“Music that will remind you of a place and a time and the people who made it a moment,” Nom added.
