After the orange peel theory and Ketchup Challenge, a new trend has picked up on social media wherein women are testing their boyfriends and their commitment to the relationship.
Called the ‘Husband Test’, many users are now posting their partner’s response on social media, especially TikTok.
So what is this new relationship trend and why is it called ‘Husband Test’? Read on to know more.

The viral ‘Husband Test

As per this trend, women are recording the exact moment when during a casual conversation they called their boyfriend as ‘husband’ and how their partner reacted. Many people believe that if the boyfriend smiles or reacts in a positive manner, it shows that he is invested and committed in the relationship. Whereas, if he corrects his girlfriend or reacts in a negative manner then it can indicate that he is not in the relationship for the long haul.
While many people have picked up on the trend to test their partner, this is not the only way to test their loyalty. Also, many people have raised their concern about the very act of testing their partner for loyalty or commitment as this is something that should be discussed among couples rather than posting online.

Commenting on this trend and how a man would react to being called “husband” out of the blue, Psychotherapist Marni Feuerman told USA Today, “There could be a lot going on for him that we just don’t know or understand… (Maybe he) doesn’t ever see himself getting married and doesn’t want to ever be a husband.” And so this would reflect much more about the man rather than his commitment level in his current relationship.

How did the ‘Husband Test’ trend start?

The ‘Husband Test’ trend started when Kenzie Greene posted her video wherein she deliberately called her boyfriend her husband to see his reaction. But this didn’t go well with her boyfriend, who responded by saying, “I’m not your husband”. He also immediately switched off the video. Many netizens reacted to this video and jumped to conclusions about Kenzie Greene’s boyfriend not wanting a commitment in the relationship. Soon, many people started posting similar videos on TikTok thus giving rise to the ‘Husband Test’ trend.
