Vagina is a powerful, powerful thing. It can take some serious pounding and do some astounding things, which you sure are not aware of.

Did you know it could trap a penis? In all likelihood, no. Below is a list of things that you probably don’t know your vagina can do.

1. Your vagina cleanses itself

Next time if you see that whitish discharge from your vagina, don’t panic. It is absolutely healthy and a way that helps your vagina to clean itself. Of course, intimate washes are available for outer cleanliness and maintaining hygiene, but this white discharge flushes out bacteria and prevents unwanted pathogens from entering your uterus.

2. It grabs penis

The vagina muscles are so strong that it has the ability to capture penis during intercourse. When the pelvic muscles clamp down, they can literally trap a penis!

3. Like penis, your vagina gets an erection too

You may not see your vagina’s erection but your body responds the same way as a man’s when aroused. However, as compared to men, women take a little longer to get the erection. The clitoris has a pair of corpus cavernosa, which gets erected when aroused. An erect clitoris tends to swell, becomes more sensitive, and increases in size.

4. You can experience an orgasm while exercising

It may sound exciting but when experienced, it can be a little awkward. This orgasm is referred to as “exercise-induced orgasm” and is usually caused from core-focused exercises like biking, spinning, lifting weights, and/or climbing poles or ropes.

5. Your vagina changes colour

It is hard to believe but vagina changes colour. There are factors responsible for its colour change. With growing age, the colour of your vagina becomes lighter. However, when you are aroused due to high blood flow, it turns darker in colour.

6. Your vagina can get bigger

When you feel aroused, there’s a lot of blood flowing down to the vagina, making its blood vessels expand. This causes the genitopelvic area to become enlarged, which is also referred to as vaginal tenting. So, the more you are turned on, the larger your vagina could potentially grow.

7. Your vagina protects itself

The vagina connects to the uterus and the cervix acts as a barrier between the two. So, if you think tampon, menstrual cup or condom can get lost somewhere deep in, don’t worry, your cervix will grab it.

8. Listen to what your vagina says

Our body parts are designed so that they indicate if there’s anything wrong with our body mechanism. So is the case with the vagina. If you notice anything wrong down there, immediately consult an expert.

9. Vaginal orgasm is also a thing

Out of four orgasms, vaginal orgasm is the orgasm which is the result of vaginal penetration, primarily, with little or no clitoral stimulation.
