We all have things that we love – from books to coffee and cars – but what about the social media apps that South Africans love?
Email tracking outfit, Mailsuite has revealed the social media apps that South Africans love and hate.
To get the data, Mailsuite analysed the five star rating breakdowns for close to 1,500 top communications and social media apps on the Google Play Store to rank the email, messaging and social media apps users rate the highest in every country.
In South Africa, the most loved social media app is Facebook and the most hated social media is Reddit.
On the continent, these are the most loved social media apps for various African countries:
– Ghana: X
– Tunisia: X
– Morocco: Threads
– Algeria: TikTok
Globally, TikTok is the most loved social media app in 30 countries, including the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
TikTok, which was launched internationally in September 2017, has more than one billion downloads on the Playstore and 80 million reviews on Playstore and Appstore.
Mailsuite said that TikTok quickly become one of the most influential social media apps in recent years.
Reddit is not only hated in South Africa, but is the most hated social media app of all, according to Mailsuite.
Mailsuite said that the content sharing site lagged behind in the app realm. In 2010, Reddit became more usable to mobile browsers after undergoing a major renovation, and in 2014 it was rebranded as the official mobile app.
Earlier this year, Reddit updated the app’s conversation navigation and loading times after criticism that the app was slow and unintuitive to use.
