DStv sparks outrage as 11 major channels get axed ahead of 2026

DStv subscribers are bracing for yet another major shake-up as the broadcaster moves to scrap 11 more well-loved channels at the start of 2026.

This comes shortly after news that BET Africa, MTV Base, CBS Justice and CBS Reality would also be removed before the festive season ends.

On Tuesday, 2 December 2025, a user on X shared what appears to be an official notification from the MyDStv app, alerting customers that a long list of channels will disappear from 31 December 2025.

The screenshot quickly ignited frustration online, with many viewers saying the platform is giving them “no reason to stay subscribed.”

The notification revealed that from 1 January 2026, DStv will no longer offer Discovery Channel, TLC Africa, TNT Africa, Food Network, Travel Channel, Investigation Discovery, Cartoon Network, Cartoonito and CNN International, among others.
