‘Blood & Water’ star Arno Greeff announces exit from TV and film acting after 12 years

Arno Greeff quits acting
South African actor Arno Greeff has revealed that he is stepping away from long-form television and film acting after more than a decade in the industry.
The star, widely recognised for his role in the hit Netflix series Blood & Water, shared the news in a candid Instagram post, explaining that the decision came after years of reflection and a shift in personal priorities.
“It’s something I have been thinking about for the past two to three years, and a lot has happened over the past few weeks that has solidified my decision to move on into a new era,” he wrote.
According to Greeff, one of the main reasons behind the move is his desire to spend more time with his loved ones.
After 12 years of working in the demanding world of film and television, he said being away from home no longer aligns with the life he wants to live.
“A lot of it is just about priorities; it’s not a priority anymore. I don’t want to be away from home and away from my family anymore, and over the past few years, I’ve lost my passion for it,” he explained.
Reflecting on his career, the actor expressed gratitude for the opportunities and achievements that came his way during his time in the industry.
“I’m fortunate that I’ve had an amazing career. The past 12 years have been filled with phenomenal success and surprises, achieving things I never thought would be possible. It’s time to move on,” he said.
Although he is stepping away from acting in long-form productions, Greeff clarified that he is not completely leaving the entertainment space.
He plans to continue appearing in commercials and will also pursue opportunities as a presenter.
He also acknowledged the current challenges facing the television and film industry, suggesting that the difficult climate contributed to his decision.
“It’s the worst time ever to be in the TV and film industry. It’s tough to see everything that’s been going on, which nudged me towards moving on,” he said.
Looking ahead, Greeff hinted that he will soon reveal a new venture linked to an earlier career dream.
Known for his curiosity and love for new challenges, he said the transition offers an opportunity to explore different interests.
“If you’ve known me for some time, then you know I like challenges; I like learning new things. I like to know more about life, and this has given me an opportunity to know more.”
