Fans suspect hack after mysterious new track appears on late rapper AKA’s Spotify account

Confusion spread across social media after fans noticed what looked like a brand-new single under the late rapper AKA’s Spotify account.

A TikTok user recently shared a video questioning whether Kiernan “AKA” Forbes’ profile had been hacked, since the track, titled Aka (Cocktail), did not sound like him, wasn’t in his language, and had never been announced by his team.

AKA, who was tragically killed in February 2023 outside a Durban venue alongside his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, hasn’t released any music beyond his acclaimed project Mass Country.

That album, which has earned more than 99 million streams, was the last official release tied to his name.

The TikTok post from user @sthobi_ quickly went viral, with the caption: “Watch till the end. I don’t know if it got hacked or what.”

Fans rushed to check Spotify and were equally shocked to see the mysterious track on his profile.

As of September 2025, AKA’s account has over 526,000 monthly listeners, so the upload did not go unnoticed.

Although the song was eventually removed from his page, the incident sparked debate.

Some argued that it may have been a glitch, as another artist named “Aka” exists, but many insisted that his management needs to step in and clarify the situation.

Social media users added to the chaos with comments ranging from disbelief to jokes.

One fan wrote, “Nahhh, it’s hacked. I listened to it. There’s also another track under his account called Shamanik Revolt.” Another said, “It’s another artist with the same name, I guess. But that cover art was so weird, and I saw it right after watching a horror movie.”

Despite the confusion, fans continue to celebrate AKA’s legacy. Just recently, Mass Country surpassed 42 million global streams on Spotify, proving that the late rapper’s music remains timeless.
