Khaya Dlanga reacts to Witness D’s killing
Khaya Dlanga has added his voice to the national conversation following the death of Marius van der Merwe, the man known publicly as “Witness D” at the Madlanga Commission.
Van der Merwe dominated headlines over the weekend after a voice note he sent to an eNCA reporter surfaced shortly before he was killed in Brakpan.
His wife, Leane van der Merwe, also trended as South Africans responded to the heartfelt message she posted about her late husband.
Dlanga, who is respected in both the media and marketing space, said he was stunned by the incident.
Sharing his thoughts on X on Saturday, 6 December 2025, he expressed concern about the state of crime in the country.
“Criminals are so brazen in this country. The way they just killed Witness D when the whole country is paying attention to the commission. It’s people who are used to getting away with their criminality and expect no consequences even for this act. The casual arrogance is chilling,” he wrote.
