Cassper Nyovest faces backlash over gospel performance at Bloemfontein concert

South African rap superstar Cassper Nyovest sparked a heated debate online after performing a gospel song during his Fill Up Toyota Stadium concert in Bloemfontein.

The song, which included the lyrics “Jesus is the Alpha and Omega,” led some netizens to accuse the rapper of being a “fake Christian,” while others defended him.

The controversy began when an X user shared a clip of Cassper’s performance, captioning it: “Y’all were right, Cassper Nyovest is doing performative Christianity stuff. His fans will call you a hater for being this honest.”

Responses in the comments section were sharply divided. One fan, @Nokbonga_S, weighed in: “Only dumb people don’t see anything wrong with this.”

The original poster, @Lord_Ori_, replied: “Cass followers are dumb, I guess.”

Another user, @maphatsoesenyan, added: “I never liked him and I don’t think I ever will,” prompting @Lord_Ori_ to respond with a GIF of a laughing Vladimir Putin.
